Monthly inflation up 0.7% in April

Skopje, 7 May 2024 (MIA) — Inflation measured through the Consumer Price Index in April 2024, compared to March 2024, was 0.7%, according to the latest figures released by the State Statistical Office.
The rise in inflation in April compared to March was due to rising consumer prices in the statistical categories of Transport (by 2.8%), Communications (by 1.6%), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Clothing and Footwear (by 0.9%), Recreation and Culture, Restaurants, and Hotels (by 0.6%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (by 0.4%) and Health (by 0.2%).
Compared to March 2024, the April 2024 Consumer Price Index dropped in Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (by 0.5%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (by 0.2%).
The monthly Consumer Price Index in the Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics as well as Education categories remained the same.
According to the SSO press release, the Retail Price Index in April 2024, compared to March 2024, was 101.1.
The Consumer Price Index in April 2024, compared to April 2023, increased by 4.0%, and the Retail Price Index increased by 3.5%, the release says. mr/
