MoI Spasovski, Swiss counterpart Keller Sutter sign migration cooperation memo
Skopje, 7 November 2022 (MIA) – Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski and Switzerland’s Federal Department of Justice and Police Federal Councillor Karin Keller-Sutter signed Monday a cooperation memorandum over the establishment of partnership on migration.
“This memorandum will contribute to the enhancement and enlargement of dialogue in the field of migration, especially considering the fact it offers opportunities for continued and permanent dialogue and joint process of strengthened cooperation in the field of migration, namely management of migration flows, readmission, assistance for return and reintegration, prevention of illegal migration, fight against migrant smuggling and trafficking in humans, education and training, relations with diaspora and integration, as well as other areas relevant to migration management capacity building,” Minister Spasovski told Swiss media after the signing.
Ahead of the memo signing, Spasovski and Keller-Sutter held a meeting and reaffirmed friendly bilateral relations.
“The friendly bilateral relations between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Swiss Confederation are based on constructive cooperation, political dialogue and mutual support in bilateral and multilateral terms,” Minister Spasovski wrote in a Facebook post.
He adds that cooperation between the countries’ ministries of interior is open and fruitful, assuring it will continue to develop further.
Spasovski told Keller Sutter that the MoI is working continuously on preventing illegal migration, with the efficient border management remaining a top priority.
