MoI Integrity Plan 2023-2025 promoted

Skopje, 26 June 2023 (MIA) - The Ministry of Interior's Integrity Plan 2023-2025, an internal anti-corruption document, developed in cooperation with the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF), was promoted in Skopje on Monday.

The document represents a standardized framework for maintenance and improvement of the integrity of MoI employees, while also ensuring assessment of the exposure to various risks.

Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said the document is not only a legally-binding product but one that is strategically focused on uncompromising implementation of laws and rule of law as the primary principle of institutional operations.

"This internal anti-corruption document contains a set of measures that prevent and eliminate the possibilities for emergence and development of various forms of corruption and other unprofessional conduct in the MoI, on the basis of analyses and assessments over the susceptibility of certain job positions to corruption and other former of unprofessional conduct of employees," said Spasovski.

Therefore, he added, the Integrity Plan can be seen as part of the mosaic that completes the institutional anti-corruption framework and will serve as one of the core instruments to identify and prevent risks of corruption and violations of integrity in the most exposed areas of accountability.

DCAF Program Manager Irena Dzhajkovska said development and implementation of integrity plans, in the context of the EU accession process, is of vital significance for the candidate-states, in order to demonstrate their commitment in the fight against corruption, in support of democratic values, in the strengthening of the rule of law, while stimulating economic development.

She added that such plans play a key role in building public trust, ensuring regional stability and harmonization with EU standards, which ultimately opens the path to successful EU integration.
