Mizrahi sees no issue in inquiry committee hearing testimonies in parallel with active investigation

Mizrahi sees no issue in inquiry committee hearing testimonies in parallel with active investigation

Skopje, 20 October 2023 (MIA) - Commenting on Thursday's statement by Criminal Court president Ivan Dzholev, who said it was inadmissible to set up an inquiry committee over the Oncology Clinic case while an active investigation is underway, chair of the inquiry committee Rashela Mizrahi said she sees no issue, because the inquiry committee is only looking for political responsibility.

"The existence and powers of the inquiry committee are defined in the Constitution. We are looking for political responsibility, but according to Article 76, political responsibility may result in other responsibility, such as criminal or civil responsibility. The plenum voted in favor of the inquiry committee, and we are looking at documentation that is relevant from institutions and the people we call as witnesses are from those institutions, so I see no issue," Mizrahi told TV 21.

She expects the hearing of testimonies to be completed by November 3, after which all documentation should be reviewed within 30 days and the conclusions should be submitted to the Parliament.
