Mitreski - Larsson Jain: Partnership in NATO to strengthen excellent political ties and friendship

Skopje, 19 March 2024 (MIA) - Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski met Tuesday with Swedish Ambassador Ami Larsson Jain, who expressed gratitude for the support over her country's NATO membership, considering that North Macedonia's Parliament was among the first to ratify Sweden and Finland's accession protocol with an overwhelming majority as early as the summer of 2022.

Interlocutors agreed that at a time when the continent is facing a major security crisis, Sweden's membership will make a significant contribution to common security, the Parliament said in a press release.

Speaker Mitreski expressed satisfaction from the excellent bilateral ties between the two countries, especially with the latest intensive cooperation between the countries' MPs. He also expressed confidence that excellent political ties and friendship will be further strengthened though the partnership in NATO.

Referring to the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, Mitreski expressed conviction that the future composition of the parliament will continue the close inter-parliamentary cooperation and mutual support at an international level, especially in the context of European integration.

Ambassador Larsson Jain stressed that Sweden will continue to actively contribute to the democratic and economic development of North Macedonia through numerous projects, especially its strategic goal for EU membership. ssh/ik/
