Mitreski – Drexler: Continued and undiminished German assistance on EU path

Skopje, 21 February 2024 (MIA) – Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski held a meeting Wednesday with the German Ambassador to North Macedonia, Petra Drexler, during which the Ambassador reaffirmed the continued and undiminished support of Germany and the German Bundestag for North Macedonia on its path to the EU, said Parliament in a press release.

In the press release, Parliament said at the meeting interlocutors welcomed the intensified parliamentary cooperation on all levels, as well as the exchange of experiences and expertise between the MPs and services of the two parliaments.

Speaker Mitrevski voiced gratitude to the German state and people for the adoption of the resolution in the Bundestag which pays respect to the uniqueness of the Macedonian people, language, and culture.

“On February 21, International Mother Language Day, for us this act represents one more confirmation for the acceptance of the diversity and uniqueness of all peoples, which should not be denied neither in Europe nor in the world,” said the press release.

The meeting was also used as a chance to meet this year’s recipients of the International Parliamentary Scholarship, Stefani Jovcheska and Hristina Stefanovska, who will be working in the Bundestag starting from March 1.
