Skopje, 20 December 2024 (MIA) - Ambassador of the Russian Federation to North Macedonia, Sergey Bazdnikin, was summoned Friday to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and presented with a letter of protest.
"The letter expresses strong condemnation and protest over the damages from the Russian missile strike on Kyiv, in which the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia was hit, the Ministry said in a press release.
Earlier, the Ministry said the attack damaged critical infrastructure as well as a building that houses six embassies, including the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia, while adding that no diplomatic staff was injured.
The European Commission also condemned the Russian missile attack. Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anitta Hipper, told a press briefing the attack showed once again "the criminal nature of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin who is a danger to Ukraine, to the EU, to all of our security”.
Asked whether the EC intends to issue a formal protest to the Russian Federation since the damaged building houses several diplomatic missions including from EU member states, Hipper briefly said the Commission would “assess the situation and follow through”, according to MIA’s Brussels correspondent.
