Skopje, 10 February 2023 (MIA) — After last year’s nationwide teachers’ strike over pay and the subsequent raises for public education employees in September, the Ministry of Education and Science has announced that teachers will get additional salary increases in early 2023.

“The continuous growth of personal income shows we work in the best interest of teachers, and one of our main priorities is to improve their position in society,” the Ministry of Education and Science said in a press release.

Education authorities add they “fully respect and fulfill the provisions of the collective agreements for primary and secondary education staff” they signed with the Education, Science and Culture Workers' Union, which they say “is an important partner in improving the quality of the educational process in the country.”

“Educators are the most important link in the educational process and their motivation for work is reflected in the quality of their teaching. This is why we continue to work on increasing their rights and improving working conditions,” the press release says. mr/
