Minister Trenchevska, Mayor Taravari open new premises in Gostivar kindergarten

Gostivar, 25 January 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Labor and Social Policy Jovanka Trenchevska and Gostivar Mayor Arben Taravari officially opened the new premises of the renovated local kindergarten on Thursday.

Five new classrooms were opened, one for daycare, and according to Minister Trenchevska, 100 more children can enroll in the kindergarten. Funds were provided by the World Bank in the amount of Mden 34 million (EUR 554,000).

"This expansion not only reflects our commitment to providing the highest standards of education, but it is also an important step towards creating a pleasant environment for the growth and development of our youngest," Trenchevska said.

In addition to an architectural solution, she highlighted, this projects is in line with environmental sustainability and heating with pellets.

Mayor Arben Taravari expressed his gratitude for the cooperation between the local government and Labor Ministry and the joint promotion of another, sixth project, in Gostivar in six years.

"If 400 children were enrolled in the kindergarten in Gostivar in 2017, now there are almost 800. There were almost 400 children on the waiting lists, and soon there will be just 150 children, which means that childcare capacities have doubled. The Labor Ministry was one of the few ministries that we cooperated with, as local and central governments should," Taravari stressed.

Minister Trenchevska added that since 2017, the Government has invested in 81 kindergartens, and in 2023 alone three new kindergarten in Gjorche Petrov, Karposh and Propishtip accommodated 324 children.

She also reminded that in the past two years, there were 900 new kindergarten employees, and 175 received promotions. ssh/ik/
