Minister Toshkovski, Turkish counterpart Yerlikaya confirm their countries' excellent cooperation

Skopje, 19 December 2024 (MIA) – Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski, who is leading an Interior Ministry delegation to an official visit to Turkey, met yesterday with Turkish Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya.

In the meeting, gratitude was expressed for the warm welcome and the excellent cooperation between the two interior ministries and the two countries was reaffirmed all the while affirming the fact that it is “two brotherly nations that share mutual respect, history and tradition.”

“In the meeting, the ministers discussed developments involving illegal migration and smuggling of migrants as well as the general cooperation between the ministries and the swift and efficient sharing of information to curb all types of crime, corruption and terrorism. Initiated by the Turkish side, an information on procedures for citizens of the Republic of Turkey to be issued Macedonian citizenship was considered,” said a press release. 

The two ministers also discussed several documents, aimed at defining a future cooperation between the governments of Macedonia and Turkey for mutual recognition and replacement of driver’s licenses, an agreement on security cooperation between the government and a draft of a cooperation memorandum on trainings of police officers from the two countries.
