Skopje, 29 January 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski says he will attend caretaker Government sessions if they are in the citizens' interest, noting that the position is not contrary to the one of VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, who has said that ministers nominated by the party would not report to caretaker Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi and will not attend government sessions.
"If it is a priority to attend a Government session, I will attend. If it is a priority to manage the Ministry of Interior, I will manage from here. If it is a priority to go out in the field and be among people, I will go out in the field. I will do everything that is in the citizens' interest," Minister Toshkovski told MRT's 360 Degrees.
According to him, there was no negative energy during yesterday's election of the caretaker government. He says no one approached him about the family photo with the cabinet ministers, "but even if they had, I would not have been in it anyway".
"The simple reason is that I believe the PM and the way the process was administered is illegitimate, since it does not have the people's support and goes contrary to the Law on Government. Nevertheless, I will do my job in line with the law," says Toshkovski.
He does not believe his nomination came as a result of his friendship with Mickoski but that the post was entrusted to him based on the vast experience in the field of law and "because the rule of law is something that is currently devastated".
