Minister Saliu speaks at online Global South Summit with Indian Prime Minister in attendance

Skopje, 17 August 2024 (MIA) - Minister in charge of integration and implementation of the Roma Decade, Shaban Saliu, delivered Saturday an address at the "The 3rd Voice of Global South Summit 2024," with numerous countries participating, hosted by the Republic of India.

Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, opened the summit on "Youth Engagement for a Better Future," where he highlighted the importance of youth in enhancing societal conditions.

In his video address, Minister Saliu emphasized, among other things, that the youth in our country are excellent entrepreneurs, fostering activism and innovation for a better future for all.

“Among them are the youth from our Roma community, who continue to inspire us with their perseverance and passion despite the barriers they face. They remind us that true progress means creating opportunities for every young person, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or circumstances. I believe that it is my duty, and indeed the duty of every government, to ensure that young people are not just participants in our society but are at the heart of the decision-making processes. This is not just a matter of policy - it's a matter of principle. We must invest in educational systems that equip our youth with the skills they need for the future, and we must create inclusive economies where all young people, including those from marginalized communities like the Roma, can thrive,” Saliu said.

Saliu highlighted the need for governments worldwide, international organizations, and civil society to build partnerships between nations and cultures for, as he emphasized, a better tomorrow for everyone.
