Minister Nuredini, President Pendarovski in coordination meeting on Glasgow climate summit
Skopje, 15 September 2021 (MIA) – Climate action and sustainable development of North Macedonia was the topic of discussion at Wednesday’s meeting of Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Naser Nuredini with President Stevo Pendarovski, in light of the United Nations Climate Change Conference-COP26, set to take place in Glasgow this November. The meeting discussed key challenges in the environment sector, with a focus on the country’s positions presented by President Pendarovski at the climate summit in Glasgow, where he will be accompanied by Minister Nuredini, the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning said in a press release. It adds that North Macedonia has committed itself to serious climate contributions through the enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution to the Paris Agreement, also confirmed by the recently adopted long-term strategy on climate action and an action plan. Nuredini briefed Pendarovski on the progress in meeting the national climate agenda and highlighted the need to ensure coordination by the Ministry in implementation of all measures and activities for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, but also planning of sustainable investments if the country wants to achieve the climate goals and environment standards.
