Minister Durmishi and Qatari Labor Minister Al-Marri sign memorandum of cooperation

Skopje, 7 September 2026 (MIA) - Cooperation in several areas concerning the advancement of labor relations, labor inspection, safety and health at work, as well as the exchange of experiences in the drafting and development of legislation concerning labor are some of the items included in the Memorandum of Cooperation signed Monday in Skopje by Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi and the Minister of Labor of the State of Qatar, Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al-Marri.

“Today we made a significant step toward enhancing the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of North Macedonia and the State of Qatar with the signing of Memorandum of Cooperation on Labor. This document represents a new basis for institutional cooperation and the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two ministries. The Memorandum foresees concrete cooperation in several areas of mutual interest,” said Minister Durmishi after the signing of the Memorandum.

The Minister stressed that the document establishes a joint committee of representatives of both counries that will coordinate the implementation of agreed activities, plan future cooperation programs, and ensure continued dialogue between institutions.

“For the Ministry of Economy and Labor, international cooperation represents a significant instrument for the promotion of national policies. The exchange of good practices with partner countries allows us to strengthen our institutional capacities, improve labor market conditions, and create modern policies that will respond to the needs of employees and employers. I believe this cooperation will contribute to a further strengthening of the friendly relations between our two countries and create opportunities for new shared initiatives in labor, employment, and human resources development,” Durmishi underscored. 

The Economy and Labor Minister said North Macedonia remains committed to building firm international partnerships that will contribute to economic development, better opportunities for the citizens, and a more competitive labor market.
