Minister Andonovski presents Macedonian digital agenda at Economic Forum in Poland

Skopje, 5 September 2024 (MIA) - Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski participated in the 33rd Economic Forum in Karpacz, Poland, where he addressed an evening plenary session "Central and Eastern Europe: The New Leader in Digital Innovation", discussing digital transformation, regional cooperation and European integration through digitalization. 

Minister Andonovski highlighted the establishment of the Ministry of Digital Transformation as a clear sign that digital transformation is the top priority of the Macedonian Government. 

In the context of international cooperation, Andonovski pointed out that the success of the countries in Central and Eastern Europe serves as inspiration and a model for the Republic of Macedonia, the Ministry of Digital Transformation said in a press release. He mentioned the country's proactive participation in the current regional digital initiatives and stressed the importance of the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of digitalization.

"Andonovski particularly mentioned inclusiveness in digital transformation, noting that the Republic of Macedonia strives to create digital solutions that are easy to use and safe for all citizens. In this context, he highlighted the Government's commitment to the development of digital skills, with a special focus on young people," reads the press release. 

In terms of European integration, the Minister noted that alignment with EU digital standards is a key step towards the country's integration, as the process not only prepares the country for EU membership, but also creates a favourable environment for attracting foreign investments in the technological sector.

"Our goal is to turn the Republic of Macedonia into an attractive destination for technological investments and innovations," said the Minister, adding that this will contribute to economic growth and the creation of new jobs in the digital economy. Andonovski pointed out that the Republic of Macedonia is ready to be an active participant in the digital transformation of the region.

He called for closer cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in the area of ​​digitization, stressing that joint progress in this area will contribute to greater competitiveness and prosperity of this entire part of Europe.

"The Minister's participation in this prestigious forum reaffirms the Republic of Macedonia's commitment to accelerated digital development and ambition to become an important factor in the digital economy of the region and more broadly in Europe," reads the press release. 

Minister Andonovski's agenda also includes a bilateral meeting with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization, Krzysztof Gawkowski. 

The Economic Forum in Karpacz brings together more than 6,000 participants from around the world, engaged in more than 500 debates, dedicated to discussing the challenges facing the modern world.
