Milkov: We have chance to resolve decades-long issues with North Macedonia
Sofia, 19 August 2022 (MIA) - We have a chance to resolve issues with North Macedonia that have existed for decades, but were not seriously addressed, said Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Milkov.
"We have a mechanism to resolve them now. It’s the so-called French Proposal. There is a wide field before us to continue the work to clear up all controversial issues," Milkov said.
The Minister in the caretaker government added that there are prospects for improvement of relations with North Macedonia, MIA’s Sofia correspondent reports.
According to Milkov, “the opposition’s attempts to use the attitudes of part of the population for various purposes are worrying.”
Milkov noted that “European membership is associated with a reassessment of the past and a number of propaganda cliches”, adding that “before joining the EU, every country must get rid of a part of such false paradigms in the historical process.”
In addition, he said that he will continue to work towards the EU integration of the Western Balkan countries. dk/nn/
