Skopje, 5 November 2021 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said late Friday they would file a motion for a Government no-confidence vote if Prime Minister Zoran Zaev did not resign. “The majority that guarantees this SDSM-led government will be in the past. We expect Zaev’s announced resignation. If this fails to materialize, we will file a motion for Government no-confidence vote. We expect him to tender the resignation,” said Mickoski. He added that all options are in play without giving details. “That is why we had this meeting, to show that the parliamentary majority is there, which will initiate a Government no-confidence vote if Zaev doesn’t resign,” said Mickoski and added that if Zaev tendered the resignation tomorrow, the 10-day deadline for the President to give the mandate and further 20 days for negotiations would begin. I expect, he noted, that we will attempt to form a new government majority in the coming period and “all options are in play”. “One option is to form a new majority that will pass a Government no-confidence vote if Zaev continues to delay the resignation, and the second is to hold a snap election,” Mickoski told reporters. He said more details would be available at a press conference scheduled for Saturday. “This is a majority which guarantees that the SDSM-led government is in the past. Everything else is subject to talks on programmes, future, strategies. We will say more at tomorrow’s press conference,” said the VMRO-DPMNE leader. Asked which outcome is better – fresh elections or stable authorities – he reiterated there are two options. “One is the new parliamentary majority that will elect a political government, which will continue the reform process, the fight against crime and corruption, implement reforms in the sectors of health and education, take the country into the EU. The second is early elections if we fail to form such a majority,” underlined Mickoski.
