Mickoski: VMRO-DPMNE to block amnesty law

Skopje, 27 September 2023 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday that the opposition party will block the Law on Amnesty which has been submitted to Parliament.

“You see, the SDSM-DUI Government, or DUI-SDSM, whichever is easier, is seriously preparing to be in the opposition. Yes, there should be no dilemma, we will block it, this is not a law with an EU flag as was the case with the Criminal Code amendments and we will block it within the frameworks of the parliamentary procedure, because this law has two intentions. The first is to free the criminals serving prison sentences, because that’s what they were promised by them, and I am not only referring to SDSM and DUI here, but also to the smaller coalition partner, the Alliance for Albanians, if it exists at all, if it hasn’t melted into DUI yet, or at least that one part that identifies as the Alliance for Albanians. So they made promises to the criminals who are serving prison sentences, so that these same criminals can end up on the streets and cause problems for the future VMRO-DPMNE government,” said Mickoski in answer to a journalist’s question.

The opposition leader added that “VMRO-DPMNE’s future Government” aims to tackle all forms of crime.

“I will disappoint them by saying that the future VMRO-DPMNE Government has a clear intention to tackle crime in all of its shapes, whether it refers to criminals that are causing violence, blackmail, robberies, racketeering, or political criminals who are part of the Government today,” said Mickoski.
