Skopje, 22 June 2024 (MIA) - Addressing Saturday's government election session in Parliament, VMRO-DPMNE leader and PM-designate Hristijan Mickoski announced economic revival, pension and wage increase, investments in education, health and culture, fight against corruption, accountability for every crime and reforms in line with European standards.  

Mickoski announced an investment worth EUR 400 million starting Tuesday, followed by a reduction in taxes and an increase in pensions. 

"The time is coming when the homeland should do more for the citizens. Each of you has done everything for your homeland, now it's time for the homeland to do something for you. According to the knowledge we have, the situation in several areas is close to clinical death, the institutions have been brought to collapse. We will respond decisively, and the public will be informed about everything. I will not ask for a 100-day honeymoon, but I am announcing investments immediately, an investment of more than EUR 400 million starting Tuesday, then a reduction in taxes and an increase in pensions," said Mickoski. 

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps are also attending the session.  

The Parliament's Rules of Procedures stipulates that the government election session will last two days at most.The vote shall take place at the end of the debate and not later than 24.00 hours (midnight). The Government shall be elected if the majority of the total number of Members of the Assembly voted for it. 

The new government is to have 20 ministries, four more than before. The government motion includes 24 ministers coming from the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition "Your Macedonia", the "Worth It" coalition, and ZNAM. With the approval of the new government composition in the Parliament, Hristijan Mickoski will be the 13th prime minister, and will lead the 20th government since the country's independence.
