Skopje, 19 December 2024 (MIA) - Those who open the identity topic don't mean their neighbor well and disregard European values. Both agreements read that member-states should support us unconditionally. Macedonia does not deny anything to anyone and we don't want to be denied as well, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday.
PM Mickoski, who took part at the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels, told MTV that bilateral cooperation is crucial when discussing economy, tourism, know-how exchange, education etc.
"If bilateral talks are reduced to identity issues, then the process cannot be successful, because it is emotional and not rational. Any process tied to emotion cannot lead to progress, quality and delivery of results. That is why I asked that bilateral issues are left aside and agreements are read properly. Both agreements read that member-states, namely Greece and Bulgaria, should support us unconditionally. The Friendship Treaty does not say in any of its parts that we must make the constitutional amendments. We have to look at things as they are, look the truth in the eyes and not as it suits us," said Mickoski.
He adds that bilateral cooperation takes place where the rational lives, while bilateral cooperation that involves identity issues should not see the light of the day.
