Mickoski: Tender call for public health care improvements after local elections
- A tender call will be issued after the local elections to invite bids from banks interested in financing the government's planned improvements to the public health care system's infrastructure under the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the UK, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Monday.
Skopje, 27 October 2025 (MIA) — A tender call will be issued after the local elections to invite bids from banks interested in financing the government's planned improvements to the public health care system's infrastructure under the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the UK, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Monday.
In response to reporters' questions in front of Skopje's September 8 General Hospital, PM Mickoski said the plans would unfold "step by step."
"Yes, step by step," he said. "Once the local elections are over, an invitation to tender will be announced to financial institutions for the clinical centers and hospitals related to the agreement with the UK. Once that is under way, the large clinical center will be next."
Back in June, Mickoski said over 200 million euros would be invested into improving the public health care system.
He said the state intended to complete the Shtip hospital, to build a new medical school together with a 200-bed dorm, to build a new hospital including an outpatient clinic in Kichevo and to fully reconstruct the Tetovo hospital.
The prime minister also said there were "free funds to also enter the second phase, which is the great and long-promised Skopje clinical center."
Earlier Monday, the prime minister told the press the clinical center could potentially be built at the September 8 General Hospital site.
"This really seems like a great opportunity and an excellent option here, with its three boulevards, gas connection, traffic connection," Mickoski said.
"So let's see. Let the experts have their say," he said.
