Skopje, 25 July 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE's position is principled and clear regarding the constitutional amendments, and its stance is well known to Europe and the entire world, said party leader Hristijan Mickoski on Thursday.
Mickoski was quizzed by reporters regarding the statement from the coalition partner Worth It that the six-month deadline for the constitutional amendments is still valid.
"I do not operate under ultimatums and deadlines. Our position is principled and clear, and Europe and the entire world are aware of it. It was also part of the party's programme at the elections. We received votes from the citizens, not because of of ultimatums. VMRO-DPMNE and I do not operate in this way," said Mickoski.
Asked if the country would ask for the incorporation of Macedonians in Bulgaria in the Bulgarian Constitution, the PM said implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights must be the first step.
"We have a clear position regarding Bulgaria's treatment of the Macedonian community. There are 14 ECHR judgments that relate to the Macedonian community and none has been implemented. We should start from there, this is the first step. Let's not talk about promises that are impossible. They can only implement some of the judgments, not all. This is our position on this issue," said Mickoski.
