Mickoski says he extends hand to SDSM and all other parties over consensus on issues of national importance

Skopje, 18 June 2024 (MIA) - Commenting on his statement about SDSM at Monday's event marking his party's 34th anniversary, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said once SDSM consolidates and its internal turmoil ends, he is avalable and extends a hand so that they build consensus together as well as positions that are of national importance for the common homeland.

In response to reporters' questions in the Parliament on Tuesday, where he submitted the motion on the new government's composition and program, Mickoski said he was raised "not to do unto others what he does not want others to do to him".

"I said that I will not interfere in the internal developments of our political opponent, SDSM, because I don't want to do unto others what I don't want others to do to me. And, unfortunately, in the past six and a half years, there were various scenarios that were motivated by our political opponents to bring the doomsday of VMRO-DPMNE, while I fought together with my colleagues to consolidate the party. And obviously we succeeded in that, today VMRO-DPMNE is by far the largest political party," said Mickoski.

He pointed out that the openness to dialogue and cooperation applies to all political parties, noting that "the mistakes of the past should not happen to us again, because they weaken the positions of the state, creating greater frustration among the citizens."

"As a person, I want to learn from the mistakes of the past and not to repeat them. I am not saying that I am flawless, no one is flawless and everyone has weaknesses and strengths, but let's reduce such weaknesses," said the PM-designate, adding that it is why in yesterday's speech for the party's anniversary, he said that he was extending a hand to SDSM after they consolidate, for the sake of national unity.
