Skopje, 12 December 2024 (MIA) — Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the Ministry of Agriculture has decided the details that determined the government's procurement of rice and the subsidies for domestic rice producers.

According to Mickoski, after talks between himself, the agriculture minister, and farmers, a decision was made to additionally support the purchase of unrefined rice for export as well as subsidize rice producers. 

"Following the intense meetings we had together with Minister of Agriculture, Water Economy and Forestry Cvetan Tripunovski, a solution has been found for purchasing rice from rice growers. A decision was made to additionally support the purchase with 6,000 denars per 1,000 kilograms of purchased unrefined rice intended for export. Also, rice growers will receive subsidies of 18,000 denars per hectare for the current year 2024," Mickoski wrote on Facebook.

According to the prime minister, this was concrete and very welcome support for farmers as part of the government's efforts to solve problems and increase the living standard of all citizens. mr/
