Mickoski: Ready to discuss national strategy, no breakthrough without national consensus

Kumanovo, 20 December 2024 (MIA) - Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Friday they are ready to look into and discuss the national strategy drafted by ZNAM at any time, noting there can be no breakthrough without national consensus.
"We are ready for a national strategy at any time, we'll see the draft and discuss it, why not. We showed in the past, when in opposition, that we are ready for this, but others decided to push processes contrary to the interest of the citizens and the state. Believe me, we will not move a millimeter unless we have national consensus," PM Mickoski told reporters.
The PM said that he put forward a proposal in Brussels that the European Parliament votes on a resolution recognizing the existence of the ages-long Macedonian identity and language, which would show whether the constitutional change is the only outstanding problem.
"Let's see if the constitutional change is the only problem. I told Members of the European Parliament, 'put forward a resolution before the EP regarding the ages-long Macedonian identity and language and we'll see the attitude of your colleagues," said Mickoski.
Earlier this week, ZNAM leader Maksim Dimitrievski promoted a platform for Macedonian national unity defining the Macedonian national red lines, which goal is to unite all political factors in building a state position securing and guaranteeing Macedonia’s dignified path towards meeting the strategic objective – full-fledged membership into the European Union.
