Mickoski proposes parliamentary and presidential elections be held between two major religious holidays next spring

Skopje, 23 October 2023 (MIA) - Addressing an event on October 23 - Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle and the 130th VMRO anniversary, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said a date for regular elections must be set.

"Here is a proposal for Kovachevski. He can write down on a piece of paper any date he wants between the two major religious holidays next spring, so we hold the parliamentary and presidential elections at one-off cost," Mickoski said Monday.

Mickoski pointed out that "renewal will come, and changes will be as strong as the support".

According to him, "by avoiding to agree on a date for elections, this government is consciously going towards causing a constitutional and political crisis".

"A date for regular elections must be set. They will experience a bitter defeat and suffer a severe debacle. The people should come out en masse, in huge numbers, send them the message in these elections that there is no playing games with the people. Changes are coming," said Mickoski.

He added that he does not want to be subject of blackmail during the creation of the next government.

"Therefore, I urge every citizen to get involved and come out in the next elections en masse. It is important to make sure that every person's vote counts. Bad politicians are in power because they take advantage of the indecision of those who don't cast their vote. Also, the people should be aware of the danaan games of those in the opposition stimulated by the ruling party to pretend to be patriots and crush the resistance against this government. My message is don't trust them, be careful. The response to this should be not to let your vote fail to count, but to support en mass the only force capable and ready for change - VMRO-DPMNE and the VMRO-DPMNE led coalition," Mickoski said.
