Skopje, 23 October 2024 (MIA) – Prime Minister and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski posted a greeting on Facebook congratulating the citizens on the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle urging the people to create a society of opportunities and respect rather than wasting their time on division.
On 23 October 1893, Hristo Tatarchev, Dame Gruev, Petar Pop Arsov, Anton Dimitrov and Hristo Botandzhiev, at the house of Ivan Hadzhi Nikolov in Thessaloniki, formed the Macedonian Revolutionary Committee, which later on became the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation (VMRO) or Internal Macedonian Odrin Revolutionary Organisation (VMORO).
“The roots of the Macedonian national thought created pre-Ilinden, the deeds of the revivalists and the energy of the Macedonian citizens, the effects of previous uprisings in different parts of then Macedonia had culminated turning into the driving force of the Macedonian revolutionary organization. It was the power founded in the idea for our own independent country with its own identity and uniqueness,” Mickoski wrote in the Facebook post.
On this day, he noted, let us remember the heroes who gave their lives for a free Macedonia.
“It is necessary to work to bring future, to heal the country allowing justice and economic prosperity. We should use every atom to create a brighter future the citizens deserve. Let’s not waste our time on divisions and on issues that divide us, let’s commit to working for a better life, higher standards and creating a society of opportunities and respect,” the PM said.
