Skopje, 2 August 2023 (MIA) - Ilinden is the brightest Macedonian day. Ilinden is the symbol of the Macedonian struggle for freedom. Ilinden is the foundation of statehood. Macedonia and Ilinden are two intertwined threads that mark the identity of every Macedonian, says VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski in a message of congratulations on Republic Day - Ilinden. 

Ilinden, Mickoski adds, was also the guiding light of all those who dreamed of and stood for Macedonian independence on September 8, and will remain the guiding light of all future generations who will fight for Macedonia.

"The fight for Macedonia will never stop. It is eternal, just as the idea is eternal of ​​building a homeland that is its own, that is equal to everyone under this sun and that will be progressive and prosperous. It happened in both Ilinden days, it happens even today," Mickoski says. 

 
He adds that we are proud of our past and will not allow it to be trampled on or appropriated by anyone.

"We are proud of our ancestors and their self-sacrifice to build Macedonia. They are our example that all goals can be achieved with unity and commitment. Today, just like a century ago, we deal with internal and external challenges, but the past teaches us that with unity, dignity and faith in justice, we will build a better future.Long live Ilinden. Long live Macedonia," Mickoski said on Republic Day - Ilinden.
