Skopje, 8 May 2024 (MIA) - VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski said late Wednesday talks with opposition parties will start very soon and expressed assurance that the government will be formed shortly through a transparent process.
Preliminary unofficial results from the parliamentary elections show that the VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition has won 59 out of 120 MP seats.
Mickoski said the results of their work would be felt in the first 100 days of the new government.
"We are in an advanced stage of talks over a strong investment package that will support the economy. You can expect very good news for the citizens and the Macedonian economy in the first 100 days," he added.
Mickoski said crime, corruption and incompetence have been defeated at today's elections.
"The people held the most important lesson and saved its country. This generation has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a new chapter in which Macedonia will be proud and yours, a country with a future based on values and hope. Tonight, we have a reason to celebrate," he said.
The VMRO-DPMNE leader noted that he would do everything to deliver on his promises and not disappoint the people.
"I am proud of the people who stood in the way of divisions. You showed that Macedonia is not DUI, Macedonia is not SDSM, Macedonia is not VMRO-DPMNE, Macedonia is not any political party, not left, right, eastern or western, only one and only, eternal, independent, free Macedonia," said Mickoski.
He also thanked the people who did not vote for VMRO-DPMNE and those who did not vote at all, saying "we should be united in doing more for our own future, the future of our families and our Macedonia".
Mickoski told the party membership and the future officials they should never forget the people.
"This is a double victory, because of the win of professor Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the next president. Her goal will be to restore dignity so that Macedonia is proud again. I know her and I am certain that Macedonia will be proud again with Gordana as its president. I believe in her and know that she will serve its people and the homeland with integrity and commitment," underlined Mickoski.
