Mickoski: Fighting crime and corruption together with nongovernmental sector

Skopje, 25 September 2024 (MIA) - The fight against crime and corruption must be decisive. If we don’t win that fight, we can’t have a developed country, we can’t have better conditions and a better living standard for the citizens, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said Wednesday after a meeting with the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Skopje.

The Prime Minister said that together with the nongovernmental sector and members of the Government they had a chance to discuss “a topic that represents an acute problem for us as a country, and that’s the high level of crime and corruption and the fight against them”.

“Additionally, we spoke about good governance, something that also represents an imperative for this Government. I hope that in the period to come these discussions will have an effect on the work of the Government,” Mickoski said.

Mickoski stressed that the fight against crime and corruption must be decisive, noting that without a victory in the fight, the country cannot be developed, nor provide better conditions and a higher living standard to the citizens.

“A goal for us, as a Government, is to do everything in our power to secure better living conditions, as well as a better standard for our citizens, since that’s what the citizens expect from us and why they voted for us at the presidential and parliamentary elections a few months ago,” Mickoski said, adding that he is convinced a lot will be achieved together with the nongovernmental sector and the International Republican Institute.
