Skopje, 16 June 2024 (MIA) - I expect the vote for the new government to take place next weekend, namely June 22-23, said PM-designate Hristijan Mickoski after unveiling the candidates for ministers from VMRO-DPMNE-led coalition "Your Macedonia" late on Sunday.
"I received a mandate from the party bodies to negotiate the composition of the new government and they have been successfully completed. The new government will be composed of parties within coalition Your Macedonia, Worth It coalition and party ZNAM, a government supported by more than 600,000 votes at the May 8 elections. I am certain we will have two-thirds majority support in the Parliament for the adoption of certain reform laws in the coming period," Mickoski told reporters.
The PM-designate said he was guided by the principles of honesty and commitment when nominating the persons for the new government.
"We don't have the luxury to fail or do a rerun of former governances, thus losing the connection with the people. I have great hope in these people and we have a lot of work ahead, starting from day one. The situation is dire and we first need to stabilize the situation and then achieve swift results," said Mickoski.
The composition and programme of the government will be submitted to the Parliament on Tuesday, followed by the scheduling of the session on the election of the new executive.
