Kichevo, 13 December 2024 (MIA) - The government will not allow distraction of the public by the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), which wants to protect capital suspected of being acquired through criminal means. We are focused on the development of the country and investments, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said after Friday's launch of construction works for an electric battery plant by the Belgian company Avesta Battery and Energy Engineering in Kichevo.

According to the PM, Ali Ahmeti and DUI's strategy, after confirmation of their criminal behaviour has begun to build up from all over the world, is to try to defocus the public and manipulate a topic that will generally aim to polarize the population, possibly ethnically.

"We will not allow that as a Government. Confirmation of the criminal behaviour of this political structure has begun to build up. Many cases are underway related to top former DUI officials and very soon the public will see what the actual motive of the current DUI leadership is, that they care the least about what they should have cared about, and they care more about protecting the capital regarding which there is reasonable suspicion that it has been acquired criminally," said Mickoski. 

As regards DUI's call for early parliamentary elections, he said a campaign for local elections will begin in nine months, in which citizens will be able to have their say.

"If this Government is defeated in those elections, it is logical to hold early parliamentary elections after that. But if this Government defeats the current opposition political parties in the local elections, then we expect them to finally focus on themselves and restructure so as to be able to come out with new programs and new personnel solutions in the next regular parliamentary elections," Mickoski said.
