Skopje, 3 October 2024 (MIA) – The beauty of democracy is in having different opinions and in having the opportunity to express them in a peaceful and democratic way, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said referring to the coming protects announced by the European Front coalition.

“Initial attempts for destabilization evidently have been thwarted and now, softer rhetoric is being used – ‘we will protest’. I’ve said many times in the past that peaceful protests are a democratic tool. As long as they are peaceful and democratic, we have nothing against it, it’s the beauty of democracy. But, if protests turn violent, we have to defend the institutions, something that is expected of any government,” Mickoski told reporters after unveiling MRI scanner in a Skopje polyclinic alongside Health Minister Arben Taravari.

At yesterday’s event marking the government’s first 100 days in office, the European Front opposition coalition  announced they will hold protests and news conferences daily to “uncover the government’s failures and scandals”, stressing they have no intention of destabilizing the country. 

Asked to comment on DUI leader Ali Ahmeti’s remarks that European Front won’t join the ruling coalition, PM Mickoski said that “slowly but surely, DUI is getting used to being in opposition.”

“While in opposition, I wish them reforms to find their party identity,” he stated. 

Asked to comment Ahmeti’s remark that Worth It coalition should quit the government, Minister Taravari echoed Mickoski’s sentiment saying that DUI is getting used to being opposition.
