Mickoski: DUI and Grubi recommended abolishing Balancer tool at government session

Skopje, 25 December 2025 (MIA) - During the period when DUI was in government and Artan Grubi served as First Deputy Prime Minister, an opinion and recommendation were made to annul the Balancer tool. I do not comment on the Constitutional Court’s decision, as decisions of the Constitutional Court are not to be publicly commented on, Prime Minister Mickoski said, responding to DUI MP Rina Ajdari.

At the Q&A session, she stated that this government abolished the tool for fair representation and that, for nearly two years, as she said, Albanians have been left without protected rights, with “scandalous job postings” being announced exclusively for Macedonians.

“Making false statements will not gain you political points but will instead take you in a negative direction, which is not beneficial for you. All that you said is inaccurate. It would have been honest and noble to apologize to citizens and state that we, from DUI, during a government session, recommended the deletion of the Balancer tool. Furthermore, it would have been honest to clarify that all judges in the Constitutional Court who made that decision were appointed either by the previous SDSM-DUI majority or proposed by former President Mr. Pendarovski. This is the truth that all citizens should know. Everything else is untrue and is a political manipulation attempt,” Mickoski said.

He said that for anyone who feels their rights have been violated, institutions and courts exist, and they always have the right to appeal.

PM Mickoski added that the Law on Adequate and Fair Representation received a positive recommendation from the Venice Commission, whose decisions, he said, under the new methodology for EU accession and cluster negotiations, and requested by France in 2018-2019, “are not for commentary but are implemented, as they are part of the European Union accession process.”

Mickoski also responded to Ajdari, saying that “he will not enter into a discussion about whether DUI likes this law or not,” and emphasized that he is the Prime Minister for all citizens, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or political affiliation.
