Mickoski: Approval of framework means either bulgarized in EU or outside of EU for good
Skopje, 1 July 2022 (MIA) – VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski called Friday for a protest in front of the Government tomorrow at 7 p.m. “to defend European values and save the EU negotiations process.” “VMRO-DPMNE will join the initiative for protests. I call for a protest of people from all over Macedonia but also abroad, to stand with us in defense of the European values and to save the negotiations’ process,” Mickoski told a press conference. On the modified French proposal, Mickoski said the country would not be able to open the first cluster ‘Fundamentals’ until it completes the constitutional revision. “We will not open the cluster until the constitution is changed. Page 8 of the proposal does not include the section on the language but clearly states that Macedonia cannot start the negotiations until a protocol of the second meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission, which was set up based on Article 12 of the Friendship Treaty, is signed. This is the protocol that contains the issues of history, culture and the changes we must make in our textbooks,” noted Mickoski. Everything that Kovachevski says, added the VMRO-DPMNE leader, is not vision or strategy, nor a battle for future generations, but shame, defeat and capitulation left to future generations. “To this ultimatum I say – no thanks. Now is the time when we have to be vocal, clear and take the right side. The side of Macedonia and the side of the people. The damage done by this government is enormous, because approval of this framework means that either we will join the EU assimilated and bulgarized or we will stay outside the EU for good. I do not accept and will never agree to an ultimatum at the expense of the people’s dignity,” said Mickoski. He added that the proposal contained all Bulgarian demands in the part of history, language and identity. “The acceptance of this proposal gives Bulgaria full right to change textbooks and compose them as it wishes. The acceptance that Goce Delchev, Dame Gruev, Jane Sandanski and other heroes and revolutionaries were Bulgarians, that the Macedonian language is a dialect of the Bulgarian. The Government, Kovachevski, Osmani, Marichikj, they are not speaking the truth, they are lying. We have two documents, two processes, altered words, semantic inversion that the Government is presenting as success,” underlined Mickoski.
