MIA wins three awards at MAPP's 2023 Voice of the Invisible

Skopje, 20 May 2023 (MIA) – The Media Information Agency - MIA won three awards at the 2023 Voice of the Invisible contest of the Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform (MAPP).

"Women are aware of economic violence, but it is more difficult to recognize it because it is covered with declarations of love" by Fatime Fazliji, "Children sent to juvenile home deprived of compulsory education" by Ana Cvetkovska, Boris Kunoski and Angela Rajchevska, and "Roma women still discriminated in employment" by Aleksandra Maksimovska and Suzana Andonovikj are the award-winning stories for journalism "from below", i.e. for journalists who work on social issues, related to poverty and social exclusion.

Ana Arsenovska Zafirova, Galena Nikolovska Rizvanovikj, Zoran Jovanoski and Risto Karatanovski also won the award.

Presenting these topics, journalists give voice to people who rarely have the opportunity to speak publicly about their problems and are almost socially invisible, and what makes this project unique is the composition of the jury panel, i.e. the role of members in the jury panel is played exclusively by people who have experience of life in poverty.

This was the sixth presentation of the award by the Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform (MAPP), and MIA also won three awards in 2022, when journalists Simona Srbinoska, Fatime Fazliji and Svetlana Darudova were awarded.
