MFAFT: 632 nationals request evacuation, to return with charter flights and gov't plane

Skopje, 4 March 2026 (MIA) - A total of 632 Macedonian citizens have requested information about evacuation from affected countries in the Middle East. The greatest interest has come from Macedonian nationals currently in Abu Dhabi (around 447). Technical and logistical details are being finalized so they can return on charter flights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade said Wednesday.

The number of Macedonian nationals in Israel who have requested assistance remains unchanged. Six of them have chosen to evacuate at their own expense on commercial flights. The remaining six are expected to be transported by land from Israel to Egypt on Wednesday and then flown to North Macedonia with the government plane on Thursday.

“They will be accommodated at a secure location, in a hotel at the state’s expense, and are expected to safely depart for Skopje tomorrow on the government aircraft,” the Ministry said.

In Doha, 136 Macedonian citizens have requested assistance. At the same time, the country's diplomatic and consular missions are preparing a separate evacuation plan for citizens in Bahrain and Kuwait.

The Ministry urged all Macedonian nationals currently in the affected regions (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait) to immediately contact the relevant diplomatic-consular office or the Ministry’s SOS hotline if they haven’t done so yet.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade remains in constant communication and fully available to Macedonian citizens, as well as in regular coordination with the competent local authorities, to ensure the safe and timely realization of the evacuation,” the Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.
