Skopje, 3 August 2024 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia issued a press release Saturday in response to the protest note issued by Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora over Thursday's incident at the Skopje Airport involving the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani. The Macedonian Ministry said it had requested information over the event from relevant institutions, and pending an analysis, it said it would take measures to avoid similar situations in the future.

“The Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Kosovo maintain positive and constructive bilateral relations and cooperation, without open disputes and with a sincere and continued dialogue on all levels and in all areas. In this context, we voice regret over the misunderstandings that occurred at the international airport in Skopje during the trip of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said.

The Ministry said it has already requested information over the event from all relevant institutions in the country.

“Once the appropriate analysis of the collected information is carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, all necessary activities and measures will be taken in order to avoid similar events and situations in the future,” the Ministry said.
