Skopje, 10 August 2021 (MIA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has announced that last on August 8, 38 out of 39 Macedonian tourists left the the Greek island of Evia, which has been gripped by raging wildfires. One tourist has remained there, and he’s situated in the south part of the island where it’s safe. “The North Macedonia Embassy to Athens contacted some tour operators from North Macedonia that operate in Greece and had offered Evia arrangements. According to the information, on Sunday, August 8, there were 39 tourists from North Macedonia. 38 have safely departed the island, going to different resorts or back to North Macedonia because their arrangement ended, while one has remained in the south part which is currently safe. The Embassy has contacted the person, and there is currently no danger of fire in the part where they are situated,” the MFA says. North Macedonia’s diplomatic and consular missions in Greece have already urged Macedonian citizens via social media to exercise caution when traveling to Greece due to the fires and in case of assistance to contact North Macedonia’s Embassy in Athens (+ 30 694 52 82 251, +30 695 51 91 321, +30 694 47 43 071,+30 210 67 49 585) and the Consulate General in Thessaloniki (+30 698 72 00 410). “Our missions in Greece are in constant communication with relevant Greek institutions and will pass on any new information to the public in a timely manner,” the MFA states. dk/ba/
