Skopje, 8 July 2024 (MIA) - First Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti said Monday the two delegations at the NATO Summit in Washington, one led by Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi and the other by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, have separate agendas at the event.
"The PM and the Speaker represent North Macedonia at the NATO summit and we cannot expect them to hold hands when going there. Both have separate agendas and they will attend a joint dinner tonight. They left the country at a different time due to their work schedule here," Mexhiti told reporters.
The statement comes after opposition DUI asked the government coalition partner Worth It why the Government delegation did not include any of their officials, saying the country was represented for the first time on record by "a monoethnic delegation".
PM Mickoski, accompanied by Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Timcho Mucunski and Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski, are set to take part at the NATO Summit, whereas Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi will participate at the NATO Parliamentary Summit hosted by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
