Mexhiti: Government coalition stable, different thinking and capacity for compromise

Skopje, 28 July 2024 (MIA) - First Deputy PM and Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Mexhiti said Sunday the Government coalition is stable and focus should be placed on economic development, better standard of life, fight against corruption, EU integration and solutions to concrete problems.

"There has not been a more stable coalition since the 1990s, with 78 MPs and a tendency to reach 80, namely a two-thirds majority. We are working together in the coalition, but we are not the same. We are different, we have different thinking at times but also the capacity to discuss, negotiate and reach compromise in order to move forward," Minister Mexhiti told reporters.

He was quizzed about the statement of Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev, who said institutions should take into account the changes in the calculation of the balancer when drafting employment plans, namely the percentages of the resident, not the non-resident population.

"I believe this is not part of the law. The law states that the just representation should consider the percentage share of the population, it does not say resident or non-resident. This Government is committed to economic development, standard of life, solutions for concrete problems. These issues are not a priority but such initiatives will draw a response from us. The pillars of this Government are economic development, fight against corruption, EU integration. I believe our colleagues will realize they should work to advance this platform and not daily politics," said Mexhiti.
