Skopje, 1 August 2023 (MIA) — The new political party to be founded by Member of Parliament Izet Mexhiti will be called Democratic Movement.

The name was announced Tuesday after the new party solicited name suggestions from the public via the online platform www.lëvizja.mk, sources familiar with the matter said.

The Democratic Movement party will officially launch on Aug. 13.

Mexhiti was one of the leaders of a DUI faction dubbed the 'Fire Group.' A few days ago he parted ways with DUI and together with his fellow faction member Merita Koxhaxhiku became independent MPs.

They have been joined by MP Kastriot Rexhepi, who left the Besa Movement. mr/
