Merkel set to receive 15,000 euros a month as pensioner
Berlin, 13 August 2021 (dpa/MIA) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel will receive a monthly pension of around 15,000 euros (18,000 dollars) after leaving office, according to a calculation by the German Taxpayers' Association on Friday.
Merkel, 67, steps down after the general election in September.
The calculation follows her many years in the German parliament as well as her time as a federal minister and chancellor.
Like all former chancellors and former German presidents, Merkel will also be entitled to an office when she leaves.
She will also receive funds for an office manager, two assistants, a typist and a driver.
