Marichikj-Jan Kopp: Support from the Kingdom of Netherlands important to country’s EU path and reform process
Skopje, 7 February 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj met Monday with the Dutch Ambassador Dirk Jan Kopp and discussed dynamics of the European integration process, continuation of the cooperation between the two countries as well as Dutch’s financial support for projects in North Macedonia.
“The support from the Kingdom of Netherlands is important in the process of start of EU accession talks. At today’s meeting with Ambassador Kopp, we have reaffirmed that the EU enlargement policy is important for stability and progress of the region as it ensures common principles concerning democracy, rule of law, human rights but also larger market and investments. North Macedonia remains fully committed to EU accession process and expects in the coming period to work together with our European partners to speed up dynamics the process with committed work of overall reforms,” Marichikj said.
Marichikj and Jan Kopp also discussed the EU enlargement with traditional support to reforms with focus on the rule of law and the judiciary as well as the progress of cooperation between North Macedonia and Bulgaria in lifting the veto and launch of EU accession talks, whereat Dutch support to European future of the country was underscored.
