Marichikj: Usage of IPA funds key for accelerating reforms and regional development

Skopje, 8 August 2023 (MIA) – Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European affairs Bojan Marichikj wrote in a Facebook post Tuesday that a total of EUR 812 million have been invested in the country since 2007 through the European Union’s IPA funds.

According to Marichikj, per region, the most European funds have been invested in the Vardar region with a total of EUR 122 million. Followed by the Pelagonia region with EUR 79.1 million, Skopje region with EUR 44.9 million, Southeastern region with EUR 42.3 million, the Eastern region with EUR 37 million, Northeastern region EUR 34.4 million, Southwestern region EUR 31.1 million and the Polog region with EUR 29 million.

“With this, the citizens of the EU member states demonstrate a degree of awareness and desire to contribute to the EU candidate countries. The responsibility and determination demonstrated by our European strategic partners should be taken seriously. Taking responsibility on our side is also one of the most important steps for a successful realization of the Euro-integration process, which is realized through conscious undertaking of obligations and focused effort by us,” wrote the Deputy PM.

Marichikj wrote that everything depends on the country and its capacities. He stressed he is convinced that “together, we have the power to transform this country into an even better place to live in, with the cooperation of all member states and the Union.”

“Our goal is complete Euro-integration, the inflow of even greater funds for the betterment of life in our country in all areas, economy, energy, environment, education, labor and social policy, culture, digitization of society and all of that in a safe, regulated and legally systematized environment,” wrote Marichikj.

The Deputy Prime Minister and National IPA Coordinator Marichikj noted that the funds invested in North Macedonia come from all EU member states, directly from the taxes paid in the Union.
