Marichikj: Partnership with Lithuania means one step closer to EU

Skopje, 24 January 2024 (MIA) - Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj met Wednesday with the newly appointed Lithuanian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Eduardas Borisovas, based in Zagreb.

Marichikj and Borisovas noted that cooperation and relations between the two countries are based on friendship, excellent partnership and Lithuania's great support for North Macedonia's European integration process, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.

The two agreed that Lithuania is North Macedonia's important partner and NATO ally, committed to clear support for the European integration process.

"Given that North Macedonia's strategy for EU integration is moving steadily, we believe that Lithuania's support will contribute to a faster integration, including with its experience, which very important to us," Marichikj said.

Ambassador Borisovas supports the country's sooner EU integration, expressing his assurance that the country belongs in the Union, which will help Macedonian citizens feel secure, stable and safe. ssh/nn/
