Marichikj: Not obliged to attend opening of every private initiative
Skopje, 28 October 2022 (MIA) – Deputy PM for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj said Friday he would not attend the opening of club “Nikola Vapcarov” in the Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad, nor a Government or SDSM delegation will attend the event, while adding that when an official Macedonian club opens, they will be there.
“This is a private initiative. All steps should contribute to lower tensions and open possibilities for cooperation. We will see if this club has such an effect. Anyone has the right to launch a private initiative but we are not obliged to attend the opening of every such initiative,” Deputy PM Marichikj told TV24.
According to him, it is better if activities are carried out institutionally.
“We already have an official center in Sofia and we can open a similar one in Blagoevgrad. Certain reports over the initiative founders came out yesterday and let’s not forget, this is the same structure that fiercely opposed the 2018 referendum and the Prespa Agreement. Anyone has the right for a private initiative but we are not obligated to attend. Vapcarov is a renowned author and cannot be compared to Tsar Boris or Vancho Mihailov,” said Marichikj.
