Marichikj meets with Macedonian scholars Ljudmil Spasov, Elena Jovanova Grujovska

Skopje, 8 April 2024 (MIA) — First Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Affairs Bojan Marichikj met Monday with Macedonian Language Council chair Ljudmil Spasov and Macedonian Language Institute head Elena Jovanova Grujovska to discuss the Secretariat for European Affairs' commitment to nurturing Macedonian language and culture throughout the European integration process.


"The Macedonian Language Council, in cooperation with Krste Misirkov Macedonian Language Institute and renowned linguists, Macedonian scholars and professors, play an important role in the development and implementation of laws and projects nurturing and promoting the Macedonian language," an official press release said.

 

 

"In addition, the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the institutions continuously support the implementation of various projects related to the development and promotion of the Macedonian language as well as the translation of European legislation into Macedonian," the release said.

 

First Deputy PM Marichikj highlighted the importance of the Law on the Use of the Macedonian Language, adopted in January, as being "a new and modern law protecting and promoting the Macedonian identity and culture as well as a law exemplifying cooperation and public discussion with all interested parties." mr/
