Marichikj: Greece remains partner and strong supporter to North Macedonia’s European path

Skopje, 11 January 2023 (MIA) – Greece remains partner and strong supporter to North Macedonia’s European path, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj posted Wednesday on Facebook following the talks in Athens with the Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.

Marichikj noted that they held significant and in-depth meeting discussing important topics for both countries, but also about developments in the region.

“Today’s visit is another confirmation of the existence of good political will and potential for mutual cooperation in the achievement of common strategic goals and new infrastructure projects that will increase the mobility of our citizens, such as the opening of the Markova Noga border crossing, which we believe will be successfully and quickly implemented,” Marichikj wrote on Facebook.

He added that good neighbourly relations and support from Greece “open up space to focus and talk about the European future and Macedonian European integration.”

Greek Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis wrote on Twitter that “the European path of North Macedonia is connected with the full implementation of the Prespa Agreement.”
