Marichikj: Despite having opposite view, we held constructive meeting
Skopje, 6 July 2022 (MIA) - We exchanged ideas as to what approach both Parliament and the government should take in the next phase regarding the European proposal. Even though we have different views on many things, the meeting was held in constructive spirit, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bojan Marichikj said after Wednesday's meeting of party working groups in Skopje aimed at reviewing the French proposal for lifting of the Bulgarian veto and opening of EU negotiations. During the meeting, he added, SDSM and the government presented their positions that the proposal meets the expectations of the country. "We also put forward a text with draft-conclusions," Marichikj told reporters. He also added that VMRO-DPMNE put forward other ideas in relation to possible changes to the negotiating framework. "The first meeting was good and I think we should carry on talking in the coming days on the matter," Marichikj said. Furthermore, the Deputy PM said the mechanisms for protection of the national identity were explained. "VMRO-DPMNE presented view we've already discussed in the negotiating process. If we continue with meetings, I think we can hope for some improvement," Marichikj said repeating the meeting was held in constructive atmosphere.
